Draw Yourself a Picture
Adapted From: Algebra For Dummies

Each story problem is unique unto itself. But as unique as story problems are, they share similarities and patterns. Many people respond well to visual prompts. Draw a picture — nothing fancy — to represent what's going on in a story. Label your picture with numbers or names or other information that helps you make sense of the situation. Fill it in more or change the drawing as you set up an equation for the problem.
