Although dressing up items for a picture may sound like a great idea, it's not even a good one. A prospective buyer might think that the background decorations are also part of the item for sale. Not dolling up your photo means this:

  • No filling the wine glasses you're selling because it looks cute: When you do so, the buyer can't see whether there's any damage in the glass.
  • No putting flowers in the vase because they're pretty: Again, you'd be obscuring important parts of the vase itself.
  • No clumsy accessories in the picture: This is true no matter how homey you think they make your picture look.
