Don't beat yourself up by assuming your kid's problems are caused from being raised in a single-parent home. Two-parent families have similar problems with their kids because many of the problems just come naturally as a child grows and matures.

Here's something that should cheer you up: Mental health professionals have found that a child from a divorced home is usually better adjusted than a child from a two-parent home with constant conflict. And according to several studies, 70 percent of girls and 60 percent of boys are beginning to function reasonably well within two years after the divorce. In fact, two things that children of divorce seem to develop in spades are independence and resilience.
