Making Candles & Soaps For Dummies
Color Me Beautiful
Adapted From: Making Candles & Soaps For Dummies

Although you could use pure wax, crayons can also be used to color your candles. However, you shouldn't use them unless you absolutely have to -- and who can imagine why that would be the case? From a purely aesthetic point, your crayon's color, although true on coloring paper, doesn't look the same when your wax hardens for a candle. Second, and most important, crayons can clog your wick and affect how your candles burn. If you truly think you need to use crayons or you just want to give them a try, use them on the wax you overdip with.

Overdipping is merely the process of adding another coat of hard wax to both your dipped and molded candle. This common candle technique is popular because not only does it help you add many decorative finishes, but you can use it to change your candle's color as well.
