Check Out Check In with Dreamweaver
Adapted From: Dreamweaver4 For Dummies

The Check In/Out category was designed to keep people from overwriting each other's work when more than one person is contributing to the same Web site (a valuable feature if you want to keep peace on your Web design team). When a person working on the Web site "checks out" a file, other developers working on the site are unable to make changes to that page. When you check out a file, you see a green check mark next to the filename. If someone else has checked out a file, you see a red check mark.

To use the Check In/Out feature, check the box next to Check In/Out. In Dreamweaver 3, this was a separate option in the Category box in the Site Definition dialog box. In Dreamweaver 4, this feature is available at the bottom of the Local Info box. The Check In/Out page expands when you check it and is visible in the bottom part of right side of the box.
