Windows Explorer is full of tiny words in tiny little rows and columns, but it doesn't have to be. Windows 98 allows you to view your drive's filenames and folders more easily by using a wide variety of font sizes.
For example, you can make Windows Explorer's letters exceptionally large and easy to read on a groggy Monday morning.
To increase the size of the letters on your screen, just follow these steps:
Right-click on a blank area of your desktop and choose Properties.
The Display Properties screen appears.
Click on the Settings tab, click on the Advanced button, and examine the Font Size box.
If your Font Size currently says Small Fonts, go to Step 3 and then you're done. If it says Large Fonts or Other, complete Steps 4 and 5.
Click in the Font Size box, choose Large Fonts, and click on the OK button.
Depending on your brand of monitor, Windows 98 may want to restart itself to come up with larger fonts. Follow the on-screen directions to let Windows 98 shut itself down and come back to life with larger fonts.
Make sure that the Font Size box currently reads Other.
By choosing the Other option, you can tell Windows 98 to "scale" the fonts to be a large percentage of their current size.
Choose 125% from the box and click OK.
Windows 98 probably wants to restart your computer; just click on Yes when Windows 98 asks whether you're ready for the restart.
Regardless of the method you choose, Windows 98 wakes up with larger-sized fonts on the screen.
