If you like those little items in your Mac OS X Jaguar menu bar such as the clock, the AirPort monitor, and so on that let you monitor or operate certain aspects of Mac OS X, then you're going to love these hidden treasures.
Take a look in your System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and you'll find 17 additional, and quite handy, menu extras that you can install onto the menu bar. Some of these menu extras, such as Displays, AirPort, and Volume, you may have already enabled from their System Preference panels, but there are a couple of gems that you can't enable any other way other than finding them in this folder. For example, Script Menu provides a pull-down menu of all the AppleScripts that come installed in Mac OS X, and the Eject menu gives you the ability to eject CDs or DVDs right from the menu bar (rather than having to go to the Finder and drag them to the Trash).
To install any of these menu extras, simply double-click them; the new menu extra will instantly appear in your menu bar. If you want to reorder the menu extras in your menu bar, just hold down the Command key and drag the item left or right. To remove a menu extra, hold down the Command key and drag the item off the menu bar and onto the desktop, where it disappears in a puff of smoke.
