Holiday Decorating For Dummies
Beware of Impulse Purchases
Adapted From: Holiday Decorating For Dummies

Holiday decorating doesn't have to be a financial burden. If you find yourself running a little low on cash or just don't want to spend a whole lot on a particular holiday, then try making things yourself, as well as reusing or repurposing items. Another key approach to budget decorating is to keep impulse purchases under control.

When challenged with the impulse to buy, write down the item, the store where you saw it, the price, and the dimensions and walk away. Think about where you may want to place the item at home. If it just doesn't work in your decorating layout, then you haven't spent any of your budget on it. If you decide that you just can't live without it, call the store and have them put it on hold for you. You can go back and get it.
