Living Longer For Dummies
Being Sense-able
Adapted From: Living Longer For Dummies

Don't take your senses for granted. Sight, hearing, smell, taste, and feeling are so intimately involved with the quality of everyday life that it's easy to assume they will always be there to serve you. Unfortunately, this might not be the case. A whole range of forces conspire to make you less "sense-able" as you age. Medications, for example, are notable for their detrimental affects on your antennae. Be aware of medication's effects.

Your senses may also become damaged from injuries caused by bright light or loud noises. You might not notice this subtle damage for years at a time, but don't let this fool you into assuming your eyes and ears are invulnerable. Like the rest of you, your eyes and ears need to be protected from abuse.
