Microsoft Office v.10 for Macs For Dummies
Automatic Hyperlinks in Word X
Adapted From: Microsoft Office v.10 for Macs For Dummies

In Word for Mac OS X, you can use AutoFormat to help you create instant hyperlinks in your documents. Hyperlinks are colored and underlined text that you click on to jump to an e-mail address, a page on the World Wide Web, or a file or a particular location in a file on hard drive. To automatically format hyperlinks, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Tools, AutoCorrect.

The AutoCorrect dialog box appears.

  1. Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.

  2. In the Replace As You Type section, make sure the Internet Paths with Hyperlinks option is checked.

  3. Click OK.

Whenever you type an e-mail address or Web address, Word X now automatically converts it into a hyperlink. Hyperlinks can also take you to FTP sites or newsgroups.
