On the written essay portion of the CBEST exam, you are instructed to write on two assigned topics. Spend about 30 minutes on each topic since they are equally weighted.

You will have space for prewriting. You are urged to use this space to organize your thoughts. Double-check how much space you have in which to write your essay. At present, the test provides two blank sides of lined 8-1/2-x-11-inch paper per essay.
