Admissions Policies Vary

Some colleges are very fussy about the students they accept. Others open their doors to anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent — this is an "open admission" policy. Colleges with open admissions take any high school graduate until all openings are filled. High school dropouts who get a GED usually qualify as well. Almost all two-year colleges have open admission. Some public colleges are required by law to take any graduate of a high school in their state if they have the space.
