Word 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies
Adding Margin Icons in Word
Adapted From: Word 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies

Inserting icons into the margins of a Word 2003 document is pretty easy. You just insert a picture to use for an icon and line it up where you want it. Here's how:

  1. Find a really good icon.

Use one of the Word clip art files or create your own by using Word's drawing tools.

  1. Put the cursor in the paragraph you want the icon attached to.

  2. Choose Insert, Picture, Clip Art.

  3. Right-click the picture of your choice and choose Format Picture.

  4. Click the Layout tab.

  5. Select In Front of Text for the wrapping style, and then click OK.

  6. Resize the picture.

The picture is probably way too big when you insert it. Cut it down to size.

  1. Drag the picture to the margin, and you're done!
