Holiday Decorating For Dummies
Add Holiday Color to Lampshades
Adapted From: Holiday Decorating For Dummies

For a nice holiday decoration, you can temporarily wrap your existing chandelier shades and lampshades with paper shades in holiday colors.

Make a paper pattern of your existing shade by placing the seam of the shade at the edge of a large piece of newsprint. Place a marker at the bottom edge of the shade and mark the pattern as you slowly roll the lampshade on the newsprint, stopping when the seam meets the newsprint again. Repeat this process by using the marker at the top of the shade. Use a ruler to connect the top line of the pattern to bottom line of the pattern. Cut out the pattern. Double-check the accuracy of your paper lampshade pattern by rolling it around your shade again; note how much you need to extend your pattern for an overlap.

Place the pattern on the back side (the side that won't show) of the paper you're going to use as a shade; trace the lines of the pattern. Cut out the shade. Roll the paper into a shade and overlap the short edges; glue with a glue stick. When you're finished, slide your new shade over the existing shade.
