The best use of the Internet for AP American History prep is to locate the wide variety of primary sources in American history that an AP student should be able to handle. The National Archives and Records Administration's Education Section uses documents such as letters, census schedules, and photographs to examine a broad range of historical questions from how barbed wire changed the West to why the United States became involved in the Korean War. The site also has worksheets that will help you learn how to analyze cartoons, maps, photographs, and text documents. The American Memory project, the digitized historical collections from the Library of Congress, is a tremendously rich source of information on cultural, social, economic, and political history of the United States. Finally, the Yale Law School Avalon Project provides access to a tremendous variety of texts from the Age of Exploration through Vietnam and the Cold War.
