A Study Buddy with Good Scents
Adapted From: Aromatherapy For Dummies

You no longer have to rely on caffeine alone to get you through a stressful night of studying. You can use your sense of smell to your advantage by inhaling fragrances that assist your memory recall and stimulate your blood circulation. These scents tend to produce more of the brain waves called beta, which make you alert and attentive.

Use these scents to spark your brain's beta waves:

  • Basil
  • Bay laurel
  • Bay rum (pimento)
  • Clove
  • Lemon
  • Rosemary
  • Sage

When you're packing for college this fall, throw in some potpourri, room spray, or sachets to pull out during study sessions. Avoid scented candles — many schools have fire rules that forbid their use.
