When someone sends a photo to you as an email attachment, you can save and print the image separate from the accompanying text message as follows:
- To save the picture: Look under the File menu for a command related to saving attachments. In Outlook Express, choose File --> Save Attachments (or click the paper clip at the top of the displayed message and click Save Attachments). In Netscape Navigator, choose File --> Attachments, select the picture name from the submenu, and then choose Save As. You then see a standard file-saving dialog box, where you can enter a name for the picture and choose the folder where you want to store it.
As an alternative approach, just put the mouse cursor over the photo and click the right mouse button to display a pop-up menu. (If you're using a Macintosh computer with a one-button mouse, press the Ctrl key as you click the mouse button.) The pop-up menu contains an option for saving the image. The command name varies depending on the program — look for something like Save Image As or Save Picture As.
Note that if someone sent you the picture formatted using HTML coding (the Web-page creation language), you may not be able to save the picture separately from the message text.
- To print the photo: Most email programs don't offer a command for printing a photo without its accompanying message text. You need to save the image separately to your computer's hard drive (using the instructions listed above) and then open and print the picture using your photo editor or other software for working with picture files.
 | Remember that photos sized to display at a reasonable size on-screen typically don't contain enough pixels to produce quality prints unless you make the print size very small. You can use your photo editor to adjust the image size before printing the picture. |
