You can choose from two categories of typefaces to use for the text in your eBay listing description: those with serifs and those without. Typefaces without serif are called sans-serif or gothic. (Serif, by the way, means that the typeface has those small, fine lines that finish the ends of each letter and carry your eye to the next letter.) The serif typeface was developed with its smooth-flowing upper- and lowercase letters to make printed text easy to follow. A standard serif font often used in books is Times New Roman.
A commonly used sans-serif typeface is Arial. In sans-serif type, the letters don't have the fine lines that finish the letters, so the letters end abruptly at the bottom or top. In general, sans-serif letters are easier to read from far away than serif letters, so it's pretty commonplace to see road signs done in sans-serif fonts and book text done in serif fonts.
Fancy fonts are fun for printing out, but it's a different ballgame online. Be sure to select standard typefaces that are available on all computers. Otherwise your potential customers' computers may display completely different (and perhaps highly unreadable) type when they view your listing.
